Oasis + The Black Crowes THE TOUR OF BROTHERLY LOVE! | "The idea of these two great bands touring together has excited everyone we speak to. It's the ideal combination for those who take their rock charged with passion, soul and energy." |
| Over the past decade, The Black Crowes have consistently delivered high-voltage rock & roll soul, cementing their reputation as one of rock's premiere bands, starting with 1990's multi-platinum selling debut Shake Your Money Maker, straight through 1999's By Your Side and 2000's Greatest Hits 1990-1999: A Tribute To A Work In Progress, and on to this past summer's gold-certified, critically acclaimed collaboration Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes: Live At The Greek. The mix of hard blues, heavy rock and inward-looking, often deeply personal lyrics clearly represent contemporary rock & roll's best: it's a distinctive sound with a sense of abandon, celebratory heat and confrontational attitude. No wonder that the UK's Melody Maker hailed them as "The Most Rock n' Roll Rock n' Roll Band in the World." "The history, credibility, resilience, talent, passion and music of both bands speak for itself. God help us all." |
| Oasis belong to a tradition of acts in the history of music who get to define their generation. To know that right then, at that moment, no one is making music that is more important, that expresses more clearly the hopes and aspirations of the time. From the release of Definitely Maybe in 1994 to the massive concerts at Knebworth in 1996, Oasis were indisputably that act. Since then they've continued to tour the world, written 2000's Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants and remained the indisputable world champions of rock 'n roll. OASIS HOOK UP WITH THE BLACK CROWES!
| The Black Crowes and Oasis have confirmed dates for what is certain to be the definitive rock experience of year 2001! The Crowes, whose new "Lions" album has just hit the stores, have teamed up with the battling Gallagher brothers in Oasis and special guests Spacehog for a whirlwind North American tour. But how did a red-blooded American rock band hook up with England's most notorious squabbling brothers Gallagher? "We were in England in '99 and one of the shows we did with the Stereophonics Noel turned up for," explains Crowes drummer Steve Gorman. "We'd heard through the grapevine for years that he was always a fan and he really liked our records, but in England it's kinda like getting an audience with The Pope so we never paid attention..." Gorman and the rest of The Crowes were always fans of the Gallagher brothers' clever and dry humor, and meeting them was no different than what they'd imagined. "They amuse me greatly. Right when we met we instantly started talking about records. There's none of the preliminary bullshit. You just immediately fall into conversation as if you've known each other forever. By the end of the day we're all just record geeks, just pouring over albums, still love talking about music." | TOUR DATES. 05.11.01: Las Vegas, NV 05.12.01: Santa Barbara, CA 05.14.01: Los Angeles, CA 05.15.01: Los Angeles, CA 05.17.01: Denver, CO 05.19.01: St. Paul, MN 05.20.01: Chicago, IL 05.22.01: Toronto, ON 05.24.01: Cincinnati, OH 05.25.01: Cleveland, OH 05.27.01: Wallingford, CT 05.29.01: Pittsburgh, PA 05.30.01: Philadelphia, PA 06.01.01: Indianapolis, IN 06.02.01: Detroit, MI 06.03.01: Darien Center, NY 06.05.01: Baltimore, MD 06.07.01: New York, NY 06.08.01: New York, NY 06.09.01: New York, NY 06.11.01: Boston, MA

| With a solid relationship forming, both bands anxiously anticipated a tour together and Gorman sees this upcoming Brotherly Love Tour (clever title as the Crowes and Oasis have brothers in the forefront) as offering something different and being just a hell of a good time between friends. "I'm not gonna be disappointed if Liam goes up and throws a couple of sucker-punches here and there" Gorman giggles. "It's kinda what he's good at. It's totally cool." LAS VEGAS AND SANTA BARBARA GIGS! Noel Gallagher recently said that the band's set would contain obscure material, and that proved to be correct, with Oasis playing less famous single releases, album tracks, and B-sides. Classic hits such as Live Forever, Wonderwall and Whatever were sacrificed for songs including Slide Away, Columbia and I Am The Walrus. An Oasis fan who had travelled over to the US for the show said: "This is the best Oasis gigs I have seen in at least five years. It was a lot more intimate and the band had real attitude. Everyone was really going for it." Setlist: Go Let It Out, Morning Glory, Fade Away, Some Might Say, Gas Panic!,Cigarettes & Alcohol, Step Out, Slide Away, Champagne Supernova, Don't Look Back In Anger and I Am The Walrus. The regular Oasis drummer Alan White has been temporarily replaced by his brother Steve, due to a wrist injury. Following the Oasis' performance, The Black Crowes performed their set with Noel Gallagher joining the band on guitar. more: Read an interview with Noel THE TORONTO CONCERT! A crowd of 12,000 braved a nasty torrential downpour to catch the sibling acts Black Crowes, Oasis and Spacehog. Just getting to the lakefront venue was an adventure in itself as window-high water turned Lakeshore Blvd. into a hard-to-navigate river. And even when you found a parking space, there were still enormous puddles to contend with that left most concert-goers with wet feet in addition to their already soaking clothes and hair. The enthusiastic audience, which included Harrison Ford, certainly got into it during Oasis' hour-and-15-minute set which featured the Gallaghers in fine form despite the latter's confession they'd had a few bevvies. Given Toronto has always been solid Oasis territory, it might have made more sense for the Manchester group to close out the evening here rather than the Black Crowes. The highlight was Champagne Supernova, which drew out even the meekest of fans To take part in a soccer game-worthy singalong. Noel, didn't shy away from solos and stood at the front of the stage and applauded the audience once the set had ended. source: Toronto Sun, Wednesday May 23rd, 2001 CINCINNATI AND PITTSBURG GIGS CANCELLED! The shows has been forced to be cancelled due to the rapidly rising level of the Ohio River. A statement from the Riverbend Music Center said: "Located on the Ohio River, Riverbend's backstage and pavilion areas flood when the river rises to extremely high levels. According to the National Weather Service, located in Wilmington, Ohio, the river will reach 45 feet by Thursday afternoon. At 45 feet, the backstage, stage and the first ten rows of the pavilion would be under water. The management and staff of Riverbend are very disappointed to have to cancel this highly anticipated performance." The Pittsburgh show on May 29th, at the AJ Palumbo Center has also had to be cancelled, due to having to consider re-routing the earlier mid-west shows that are being affected by the adverse weather. source: oasisinet.com |
