| Guigsy was born on May 9th, 1971 in Manchester, England. Paul grew up in Manchester. He was a Manchester City fan from a very early age, going to his first game at Maine Road at the age of 3. Paul is one of the original members of the band. For a little while Paul left Oasis because of exhaustion. Scott McCloud took his place (he's the bassist in the Wonderwall video), but then Guigsy got better and came back. He is a much calmer character these days. He says: "I don`t fight any more, but I used to be a bad one, just punching people. I used to have a bad temper but I have changed." Paul was definitely the quietest member of Oasis and he doesn't say much in interviews. According to Noel: "Guigsy is a pot-smoking hippie wannabe". He loves the rock`n`roll lifestyle, the touring, and getting out on stage with Oasis, his best mate is Alan White and they tend to stick together. Rumours say that Guigsy is an excellent football-player! Guigsy lives with his wife Ruth and his son Patrick. 25.08.99 GUIGSY QUITS! Paul "Guigsy' McGuigan, Oasis bass player, has left the band two weeks after Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs announced his departure. Guigsy, also a founding member of the band, left the band previously when illness prevented him from accompanying the band on their US tour. A statement just released reads: "Bass Guitarist Paul McGuigan has informed Oasis he has decided to leave the band. Paul has finished his work on the recordings of the new album and feels now is an opportune time to leave before the band undertakes touring and promotional activities later on this year. He'd like to thank the fans, as well as everyone he's worked with along the way, and wishes Oasis all the best for the future. The remaining members of Oasis have accepted Paul's decision to leave at this time." |
