| Noel was born on May 29th, 1967 in Manchester. Noel was a wild child and had trouble in school because of his dyslexia (difficulty in reading and spelling). His nickname was "Breshnuv", after a former Russian president with bushy eyebrows. Noel started developing his musical talent at the age of six when he found his father's old acoustic guitar, at the age of 12 he was writing songs. Around 1990 Noel got a job as a roadie for the local band The Inspiral Carpets. Noel got to travel the world with the Inspirals, but he got bored and went back home. Back in Manchester Noel's younger brother Liam asked him to join his band Oasis, and Noel agreed as long as he could write the songs. And after the band heard some of his songs they all agreed. Today Noel is the corner stone of Oasis. He is the main songwriter and without Noel there would be no Oasis. Even though Noel isn't the main singer, there are some a-sides that he won't let Liam sing, e.g. Don't Look Back In Anger, Magic Pie and Where Did It All Go Wrong?. Furthermore he sings on half the b-sides. He has been called the musical genius of the 90's and the greatest songwriter since Lennon & McCartney. And years from now his songs will surely be remembered. Noel is divorced with Meg Matthews with whom he has a daughter called Anais. Noel has made an instrumental song for the X-Files "Fight The Future" soundtrack, the track is called Teotihuacan. Noel has often been accused of plagiarism and he has never denied it. The most obvious example is the intro to Don't Look Back In Anger, which is taken from John Lennon's Imagine. |
