29.08.00: HONEST NOEL ANSWERING QUESTIONS! |
Q: So, what is going on with Oasis? Noel: We had a bit of a fall out in Barcelona. Not about anything particularly important, but we decided that for the good of the tour I would go home and they'd get a replacement to stand in. After that, the gigs we've done in England have been great. But you know we're not really sure what's happening next year or the year after, so as soon as we know what we're gonna do, we'll let everyone know. We'll put everybody out of their misery. We're just concentrating on doing these gigs [Reading, Glasgow, Leeds], then going on holiday and then living that thing we call life for a little while and then seeing if we want to get back into it. Q: So holiday lasts until whenever you feel like it then? Noel: Well, yeah. Rock & roll's not about conforming to the clock. A clock is too time restricting. If it's gonna happen it'll happen when we feel like. Who's to say when we're gonna feel like it? I don't know. Q:Do you see the band together in a couple years from now? Noel: You do when you're young, don't you? And then there're other things that come into your life. We've all got kids now. | |

23.08.00: OASIS KICK OFF AT WEMBLEY! |
The band came close to implosion on stage at Wembley last night (July 22) during a performance marked by bickering, a drunken Liam Gallagher and various signs that lead observers to suggest a break up was imminent! Throughout the show, Liam seemed out of control, swearing constantly between and during songs calling Wembley a "shithole" and baiting brother Noel saying he'd been touring the world making money for him while Noel sat at home. He also used the occasion to make his first comments about the split with Patsy Kensit frequently referring to her as a "bitch". | It was obvious even before Oasis took to the stage that something was going to go off. Liam stormed on during Happy Monday's support set grabbing front-man Shaun Ryder in a bearhug when Ryder had started an Elvis impression. And two tracks into Oasis own set he changed a line in second song Who Feels Love into Thank you for the sun the one that shines on everyone who deals drugs. Liam, at one point also called on the crowd to bare their breasts, refusing to continue until he saw some on the screen behind them (and they came). | The onstage tension between Liam and Noel, which frequently seemed set to come to blows, actually added to the sense of occasion. The 80,000 fans were delighted to see the band back at their fighting best, even if this time it looked more serious than the playfulness of the past. Significantly, though, Noel appeared less than happy. Unlike in Dublin two weeks ago (July 8) he refused to shake hands with his brother on his exit from the stage. Liam's antics suggested he sensed Oasis were coming to an end. He refused to leave the stage before the band's encore and incredibly repeated the trick at the very end of the show, staying on even after the rest of the band had long gone, messing with Noel's guitars and telling the crowd "I'll go if you go. You go first!" |

08.08.00: NOEL'S BACK - PATSY'S GONE! |
In the end Liam Gallagher heeded his own lyrics and just rolled with it. Shrugging off his split with wife Patsy Kensit, he called a truce with brother Noel, put his troubles behind him and rocked a euphoric crowd at Lansdowne Road. Fans had feared the departure of Kensit, who quit the couple's North London home on Friday evening, ending a stormy three-year marriage, might have ruined the Dublin gig. There had been rumours the show would be the band's last before the feuding brothers went their separate ways. But Liam said the band were sticking together. "There's been a lot of stuff written about us. But I tell you this, we ain't splitting up!" he told thousands of cheering fans. Belting out hits old and new with verve, the Gallaghers, masters of the curled lip and sneer, showed no signs of animosity. |

26.05.00: NOEL SPEAKS! |
Noel quits! | Noel: "It's Not Liam's Fault!". Noel has chosen not to be touring Europe with Oasis, he's been blaming it on his brother Liam Gallagher's drinking, but in an interview Noel tells us a whole different story: Anais, his 4 month old daugther. It was when the band's drummer couldn't play the drums they had to cancel a show, Oasis got 3 days off touring and got a chance to go home and visit their families. When he was home for 3 days and within that time he got time to think over his life situation and what he had to do to feel good, Noel says: "It feels weird being a father to a four month old girl and only met her 2 times, it's a great feeling to be a dad and now I need some time with Anais and Meg". British press has fast gone out saying it was because of Liam, Noel decided to leave the band. "Liam has never been free from alcohol, though he has definitely calmed down while after being a dad. He still drinks and party and stuff, but all young people do that!" As soon as next Tuesday Oasis will be performing in Milano with their new lead guitarist Matt Deighton. Noel also says Oasis will not split up, he needs some rest from the hard touring. "I've written two songs already for our next album, I believe and hope and think it will be great because we know we have a good band and I won't have to do all the thinking myself anymore". |

17.05.00: OASIS IN TROUBLE! |
Noel Gallagher has left the world tour! He no longer wishes to play live outside the UK. Liam is now in charge and has ordered Matt Deighton (former Mother Nature and Paul Weller guitarist) to take Noel's place, a task which seems impossible. Nevertheless Oasis will continue to give concerts. Some believed that the gigs had been cancelled because of drummer Alan White's sore wrist. But it's more likely that Liam's boozing and partying have worsened since the world trek began in February. Meanwhile, Noel's so-called side project - his best mate Mark Coyle's band Tailgunner - have signed a record deal. Oddly, Noel plays drums in the band. The debut album is out in September. |

14.04.00: NEW VIDEO! |
The video to Where Did It All Go Wrong? features the band in a room with Liam being interviewed, while Noel is sitting at a window looking out across the street in the apartments on the other side of the road. He sees a seperate storyline based on a story about the ex-soccer star George Best; A chauffeur is dispatched to pick up Best and take him to an appointment. The Chauffeur knocked on George's hotel door and, receiving no reply, lets himself in. He find Best naked in bed with two women, and £50 notes and champagne bottles scattered all over the room. The chauffeur is said to have just shook his head and said :"George, where did it all go wrong?" The video is released to America in April. Click here to see some pictures from the video |
